Native American Liaison Program

Espanola-Santa Fe/surrounding Pueblos (full-time)

A Rehabilitation Technician is needed in the Espanola area, including the surrounding Pueblos, to serve as a liaison between tribal communities, service providers and Division of Vocational Rehabilitation field office(s). The Rehabilitation Technician compiles, verifies and records client data in a vocational rehabilitation setting. He/she assists in providing information and referral, vocational goal setting, implementation of an Individual Plan for Employment, job placement and follow-up. He/she also serves as a liaison between tribal communities, service providers and the local DVR field office. The Rehabilitation Technician may be a staff member or a contracted service provider.

Requirements: HS/GED or experience working with people with disabilities is required. A criminal background check, valid driver's license, driver record check and reliable transportation are also required. Experience in a vocational rehabilitation setting is helpful; familiarity with local tribal cultures is preferred.

New Vistas will provide a wireless phone and reimburse mileage at .46/mile. The candidate selected will work with the Rehabilitation Technician assigned in the area for training and support.

New Vistas Early Childhood Services in Santa Fe has a part-time or full-time bilingual Developmental Specialist II position available for application. The Developmental Specialist provides home based services for families whose infants and toddlers have or are at risk for developmental delays. Early intervention services include planning, implementation of intervention and transition planning. These services are provided in collaboration with families and other professional staff and reflect developmentally appropriate practice as well as cultural linguistic sensitivity. The Developmental Specialist II works under regular direction according to the agency's mission and philosophy and the department's goals. 

 

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Development, Special Education or closely related field; 3 years related experience. Caseload will have a majority of monolingual Spanish speaking families.
